William C. Meyers, MD, MBA

Founder, Vincera Institute


William C. Meyers is the founder of the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia, a prestigious clinical and research institution specializing in treatment and surgeries for core sports injuries. Dr. Meyers has served as team physician or consultant for many professional teams and universities in all major sports both in the USA and abroad. Prior to founding the Vincera Institute in 2010, Dr. Meyers helped lead MCP-Hahnemann University out of bankruptcy and contributed to the creation of Drexel University College of Medicine. As Surgery Chairman and Assistant Dean at the University of Massachusetts, he played a key role in building the institution into a prominent health system. Dr. Meyers began his medical career at Duke University Medical Center, where he completed an 8-year surgical residency and joined the faculty as chief of general, GI, hepatobiliary, and minimally invasive surgery. He made significant contributions to liver surgery techniques and minimally invasive surgery, including writing the initial NEJM paper on laparoscopic cholecystectomy. He secured continuous RO-1 and VA Merit Review basic science grants in liver physiology and brought substantial industry grants to academic institutions. Dr. Meyers is a former student-athlete who played soccer and baseball in college, earning his undergraduate degree from Harvard, his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, and his MBA from the Wharton School of UPenn. In addition to his medical career, Dr. Meyers has been closely involved in various types of organizations, including Team Impact, the Vincera Foundation, the (Be)Philly Foundation, UMass Medical School, and Intuitive Surgical Corporation.
