Former Director of Athletics at Duke University, Former Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics at LSU
Joe Alleva has had a profound career in collegiate athletics, leading the athletic programs at Duke University and LSU with significant advancements and successes. Under his leadership as Director of Athletics from 1998 to 2008, Duke won six NCAA national championships, in men’s basketball, women’s golf, and men’s soccer, and 44 ACC championships. Additionally, 147 Duke athletes earned All-America honors, and Duke ranked first among Division I schools in the National Collegiate Scouting Association Power Rankings in 2005 and 2006. Duke’s athletic teams consistently excelled academically, with many maintaining GPAs of 3.0 or higher. Joe is the former Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics at LSU, where he improved the program through his strategic focus on student-athlete achievement in competition, academics, and community service. Beginning in 2008, LSU achieved numerous athletic victories, including national championships and top NCAA finishes across various sports. Academically, LSU student-athletes consistently broke LSU graduation success rate records. In the spring of 2016, Joe completed a five-year term on the prestigious NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee, cementing his reputation as one of the most respected athletic administrators in the country. Joe earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and his MBA from Lehigh University, where he was the quarterback and team captain of the football team, and additionally played baseball. He founded Little League Baseball and the American Legion baseball program in Durham, N.C., and is a member of the North Carolina American Legion Hall of Fame, Suffern High School Hall of Fame, and Rockland County Hall of Fame.
